2 nights would be better
by: Alison

Hi Ida,

I would definitely plan for two nights in Simonstown.

That will be much less rushed for you all.

Did you find availability at Quayside? If not, the British Hotel apartments is also an option.

Otherwise (further afield but fine if you have transport) the Avenue Hotel in Fishhoek, or De Noordhoek Hotel

Simon's Town in 1.5 days
by: Ida

Would definitely check on Quayside Hotel right after this.

Do you personally think 1 1/2 days is sufficient for us to explore Simon's Town and surroundings?

We'll be doing sightseeing most of the time, and not anything extreme since we're traveling with young kids our parents.

Thank you Alison, for your input.
Cheers.

Large group - simonstown and surrounding
by: Ida

Would definitely check out Quayside Hotel availability after this.
Since we have only 2 days in Simons Town, we are planning on the followings:
29/11- Arrive CPT around 4.30pm. Transfer to Simon's Town
30/11- Visit Cape of Good Hope, Kalk Bay, Hout Bay and Seal Island, Fish Hoek & surrounding using Rikki
1/12- Boulders Beach, Scrath Patch and then head back to Cape Town after lunch

Do you personally think that this plan is do-able?
Or should we spend another night here?

Thanks.

Type of Simonstown accommodation preferred?
by: Alison

Hi Ida,

How do you plan to get to Simonstown? Train/taxi/own vehicle?

It may pay to have your own vehicle for this part of your trip, given the # of people and the ages of 3 of your members.

You don't say what type of accommodation you prefer?
For self catering, I would recommend Boulders Beachhouse.

If you prefer a hotel, Quayside Hotel is the most central and accessible option for your older family members and has a fantastic position.

If you don't have your own transport, I recommend you contact the Rikki tours company to arrange your trip to Cape Point and grocery trips etc. Here is the e-mail address: dhurwitz@iafrica.com

Simonstown is set on steep mountainside, so depending on availability of places and given the size of your party you may struggle to find a place that suits you. If this happens, Fishhoek is your next best bet - many more options on flatter terrain.

Also, grocery shopping options in Simonstown are limited - this may influence your choice away from self catering? Again dependent on transport.

Let me know your preference i.e. self catering vs guesthouse vs hotel so I can advise.
