Should we go beyond Postberg? Reasonably priced accommodation? Couple - age 45

We would like to see the Namaqualand flowers. We will be in CT from 17 - 18 September. I have done quite a lot of research and it seems the further North you go, the better the selection of flowers.

Will the flowers have finished blooming by this date?

Is it worth the extra time to travel to Clanwilliam / Nieuwoudtville as opposed to Postberg? We are staying in timeshare in Cape Town so it would be great if we didn't have to stay elsewhere for a night.

Can you recommend cheap accommodation for one night in this area if you think it's worth while.

I would appreciate any advice you can give me.

Thanks
Sharon

That time in September should not be too late at all. It depends how much rain we have in the next few weeks and then whether we get Berg winds early in the season, but in terms of 'normal' weather, you should be fine.

It's definitely worth traveling further northb ut it would mean a night spent out of Cape Town because of the distance :(

Don't get me wrong, Postberg is awesome. But most of the flowers up the West Coast and even round Clanwilliam are the daisy families - all pretty similar except for colours.

As you get to Vanrhynsdorp and Niewoudtville you get the bulbs, loads and loads of varieties, really amazing to see.

Here is a place in Vanrhynsdorp which is the most reasonable I can find in the area:
Vanrhynsdorp accommodation - self catering or B&B

Hope that helps!
