Beautiful semi-precious gemstones...

..come in and wallow!

The Scratch Patch is a wondrous cavern where you can grub for semi-precious gemstones to your heart’s content. And no, you needn’t have a pick or a miner’s helmet! Here’s how it works..

On your way in, select your bag and pay for it. Find your way down into the cave. Venture a little further..
“Oh, what’s that?”.. Something scrunches under your feet. Look down and you'll find you’ve walked onto a carpet of semi precious gemstones!

After that it’s simple. Plop down, let your eyes get accustomed to the slightly gloomy light and you'll begin to see the individual stones. Start to marvel, then collect your favourites and share the amazement of your finds with those close by. Before you know it your bag is full!

And that’s the only downside of the Scratch Patch expedition. The stones are so beautiful and you can’t take them ALL with you! We empty our bags into our laps, select the best-of-the-best and then carry on collecting.

Shop for Gemstones
The small shop beside the cave does not do justice to its stock! If you want to shop for gemstone items rather than merely finding a wonderful family activity, treat yourself to a visit to the ‘other side’ of Scratch Patch – the Mineral World shop inside Victoria Wharf. They have amazing things, from jewellery and gemstone carvings to small curios.

The stone-collecting is an activity that delights all age groups from the smallest tot (note to parents – choking on gemstones could be fatal!) to the world-weary teen. There's something amazing about having all these beautiful stones at your feet.
Come and enjoy the magic for yourselves!
