Scarecrows Good Food Deli is a good spot especially if your party members include younger kids.

It's a lovely outdoor Cape Town play cafe and there's plenty of room for everyone to run and play.

They have also come up with some innovative ideas (like the wigwam and stepping 'stones') to tempt your young 'uns into healthy outdoors action.

They have a wholesome menu, with some delicious options and healthy-but-appealing finger food for the kids. Ours loved being offered cucumber and carrot sticks cut as finger food - great!

There are the usual options of good coffee and various other beverages, so everyone is happy!

Plus you can stock up on take home deli-foods on your way back out to the car.

Who's it for?

It's probably best suited to the toddler to 8 year old age range - that stage when they are already mobile but not yet play-café'd-out and looking for greater excitements.

Of course life and family planning are not always that orderly so if you do end up there with a crawling babe you should be prepared for a messy pair of knees.

Take hats!

On a very hot day shade may be at a premium - they are still waiting for their trees to grow up - so be sure to go armed with hat and sunscreen.

Drive down Hout Bay Rd from Constantia Nek.
Scarecrows is on your left as the raod starts to flatten out down the valley, right beside the Spar (and just one stop along from the Clay Café). You can see the front of it from the road.
