October Weather in Cape Town
October weather. In Cape Town this is the month when real beach weather arrives. By that I mean finally even the picky locals begin to hit the beaches on a regular basis!
When I first came to Cape Town I was a student at UCT, and at South African universities students do their final exams in November. Groan! Invariably, the weather would turn baking hot, day after day, just as we went on study leave from lectures. And we’d be tempted to head for the beach instead of studying. I’ll leave you to guess what we did more of... ;o)
The rainfall and temperature figures look like this: Average daily maximum temperature: 21 degrees C (70 degrees F) Average daily minimum temperature: 11 degrees C (52 degrees F) Average monthly rainfall 30mm (1.2 inches) Days with > 1 mm rain: 9
October is a great month in Cape Town. It's warm (okay, hot!) without being oppressive, every thing is incredibly green and fresh-looking, the wild December rush has yet to arrive -- perfect! Taking a Look at Sunrise and SunsetCape Town sunrise time in October is around 0600 and sunset 1900. Twilight is pretty long now, so daylight does extend beyond those times.
