Itt has a wonderful, conversational and anecdotal tone to it, as it was written by someone chatting one-on-one with Madiba, to achieve his specific intention that his journey be recorded.

As is nearly always the case with such a famous and revered personage, as well as the Nelson Mandela biographies there are various others about aspects and happenings in our great hero's life.
