Cape Town Family Holiday Magic

Multi generation family reunion in Cape Town!

We are a family who are gathering from different parts of the world and meeting in cape town. We are 13 of us from ages 3 to 73!

We are spending 6 nights in cape town at a villa in camps bay. Then 4 nights in knysna and 2 nights at a game reserve in grahamstown. We then fly out of port elizabeth. Our dates are from 20th dec till jan 1.

Apart from the cape of good hope tour and the table mountain and wine region tours in cape town, what else would u suggest?

Along the garden route, i was wondering if i should cover oudtshoorn and cango caves enroute to knysna? Which route should we take.

What is recommended along the garden route.

The kids are 2 girls ages 7 and 9 and 2 boys ages 3 and 8. One teenage boy aged 15.

Await your reply.
Thanks

Your holiday sounds like it will be a wonderful reunion for all of you!

Please would you share with me which establishments you are staying in, as that would be really helpful to pass onto other site visitors :)

In Cape Town you should definitely go up Table Mountain, and if you have any interest in apartheid history then Robben Island and the District Six museum are amazing, too.

I also highly recommend the San cultural experience at !Khwa Ttu, it is an incredible look into this ancient hunting-gathering community which still exists.

Fun activities for the kids of various ages could include quad biking up the West Coast and visiting the Aquarium.

If you are driving yourselves from Cape Town to Knysna you can drive up the R62 to Oudtshoorn, and then take the N9 down to George and complete the journey along the scenic coastal N2.

The Cango Caves is recommended, though if any in your party are claustrophobic they should chhose an alternative acitivity for that time!

Near Knysna and Plett there are various animal sanctuaries you can visit - elephants, wolves, monkeys and birds, as well as boat based dolphin watching (Plett) and forest canopy zip line tours (Storms River). And getting out on the Knysna lagoon, whether on a sail boat or a ferry is a wonderful experience.

I hope that helps!
