Milkwood Lodge Hermanus

During July we had family coming from all over the World and we wanted to spend at least 3 or 4 nights together.

Needless to say when you are 4 couples with 11 kids then this could be a problem.

We set our heart on Hermanus as we all had very happy childhood memories. We were lucky that one of the family members who lives in France stumbled across Milkwood Lodge.

The family cottage could easily accommodate my husband, myself and our 3 children.

Next to the family cottage there is a separate block with three en-suite rooms all with direct access into the garden.

One of the other rooms had a queen bed and a twin bed and was ideal for one couple with a younger child.

Two other large double rooms were allocated to the remaining two couples and a baby cot was supplied for the one room.

The rest of the children had a large family room upstairs in the main house with two double beds and two extra twin beds.

Everybody had adequate space and because we were the only guests we had the whole guesthouse to ourselves.

We could walk to the beach and cliff top to do some whale watching and also did a hike with the older children in the Fernkloof Nature Reserve. The cottage is fully equipped and once again very spacious and we could therefore all have a meal in the cottage one night.

The breakfasts were delicious and varied and the pancakes every morning a great treat for everyone.

We particularly loved the quality of the beds and the linen and did the Hermanus economy proud when we went on a shopping spree for linen to take home.

What we particularly liked is the fact that Milkwood Lodge is on a large residential plot and although we were such a big group we had so much space that nobody felt crowded.

If the weather was better we would have been able to use the barbeque on the patio next to the swimming pool.

Milkwood Lodge is only 5 kms from the centre of the Village and there is a convenience store just down the road.
