March in Cape Town - time to come out and play!
I love March in Cape Town. It's one of my favourite months of the year. It’s on the cusp between summer and autumn, so it’s hot and sunny but not oppressively so.
March weather can be variable with some light rain showers but overall it's still warm to hot. The sun is strong but without the killing heat that comes in the middle of summer. To my mind it's a month with some of the best beach weather in Cape Town! This is the month of the March lily, which only flowers from mid-February to early April. The flowers of this amazing, sweet-scented indigenous bulb appear in clusters on the end of bare stalks – quite surreal in appearance!
