June Weather in Cape Town
June weather in Cape Town is the end of autumn and it's when winter starts to bite! Well, as much as our Cape Town winter ever bites :o). It’s still changeable though. When I took this photo (at about 10.30 in the morning), the top Table Mountain cable car station was shrouded in low cloud...
45 minutes later it looked like this... and remained so for the rest of the day! The previous day there had been pouring rain and thick cloud. That’s the Cape town weather in June, what can I say?!
The bottom line is this: if you are planning only to be in Cape Town a short time and are determined to fit in sightseeing attractions such as Table Mountain, June may not be your best month. If you're unlucky, your entire short visit could be wet and gloomy. And the day you leave will dawn bright and cheerful -- Murphy's law! So rather plan to come for at least two weeks!By June on calm, sunny days it's colder inside than out, because the sun doesn't have much strength unless you're sitting directly in it. The first really spectacular cold fronts come in with the wind and rain whipping the last leaves from the colourful trees. The telly ads focus on hot soups, red wines and flu remedies! This is (according to statistics) Cape Town's wettest month of the year. This month really is cool-to-cold and wet. Bearing in mind that few average Cape Town homes have central heating, it can get c-h-i-l-l-y! Of course most of the hotels and businesses are well equipped to keep their guests cocooned and cosy.
