Parking on the street in the Cape Town city centre can be trying - you may want to walk or take a taxi

The Safmarine building is located at the heart of a maze of one-way streets, definitely designed to tie you in knots!

If you do end up driving into town, preserve what remains of your sanity by making use of my parking tip... it's worth the small fee they will charge you.

Here's how to find the parking garage I always use...

  • Travel down Adderley Street with Table Mountain at your back...
  • At the first roundabout, turn left into Hans Strijdom Ave...
  • About 200m ahead you will see a "P" sign and an arrow pointing down the ramp into the parking garage at Thibault Square.
  • The Safmarine building is along Riebeeck Street, one block above the Thibault Square pedestrian and is hard to miss - 10+ stories high, clad in dark-pink granite, with a bunch of palm trees planted out front :-).

(Just make sure you walk UPHILL on Riebeeck, with the Cape Town station BEHIND you.)
