These are our personal recommendations for your Garden Route accommodation.

The great thing about them is that we know each of these places. We've either stayed in them ourselves or we know the owners personally and can vouch for the standard of their establishments.

Best of all, we know the exact locations, so you won't end up staying on the main road, wedged between the petrol station and the all-night bottle store - we just wouldn't recommend a place like that!

Wilderness accommodation

We have two recommendations here, one is superb romantic getaway (ask for the Sunbird Suite!), the other for a great family Garden Route hotel.

Sedgefield accommodation

This bed and breakfast gets rave reviews and is set in a tranquil spot near Cola Beach. If my in-laws didn't live in Sedgefield, we'd probably stay HERE whenever we visited the town!

Knysna accommodation

This bed & breakfast is on Leisure Isle and is run by a friend's parents. They retired from their professional lives and found a new calling. Their guests are delighted they did!

Nature's Valley Accommodation

Natures' Valley is our home-from-home every January. It's a wonderful place to get away from it all. A word of warning though - this establishment is right next to the (only) general store of this sleepy backwater, so things get busy in December and around Easter!

Storms River Accommodation

This is great value accommodation in the very heart of the Tsitsikamma National Park. You'll also be close to the famous Treetop Tour and Bloukrans Bungee Jumping sites -- adrenalin fixes extraordinaire!
