Do you need Cape Town family accommodation in the CBD where your kids have space to run and let off steam at the end of a day of sight-seeing?

I have found it for you!

I recently visited Mountain Magic in Higgovale/Tamboerskloof and it’s perfect for a family looking for accommodation that is central but allows room for the kids to be … well, kids!

It’s self-catering, which gives you all the flexibility you need (no waiting for breakfast when everyone has already been up for hours!) but fully serviced and the owners are on the property so you aren’t left fending for yourselves in a strange, scary city. And there are lots of restaurants within easy reach, even walking distance in this safe neighbourhood, so you needn’t cook a thing unless you just can’t face another meal out.

Mountain Magic has three suites, consisting of kitchenette, living area and bedroom/s.

The smallest is upstairs with glorious views, and would be ideal for a couple with a baby (not a crawling one though!)

The second suite is larger, on the ground floor and has its own courtyard garden. Kids would be on a sleeper couch in the lounge, but hey, that has worked fine for us in the past.

The 'grandest' suite has 2 bedrooms, as well as a LARGE living area with a sleeper couch, and (from the main bedroom) the fabulous Table Mountain view that you see in the photo down below.

• only showers in the suites, no deep, relaxing bath for you!
• if you are pushing a pram/carrying a tot, it’s all uphill from the restaurants
• if you are dog-averse, Busby, the gentlemanly standard poodle, might put you off
