Cheap Hotels Cape Town

Cheap hotels in Cape Town are rare birds. They are getting harder and harder to find as the city’s popularity soars ever higher with foreign travellers.

Here's the good news about our cheap hotels! Cape Town guest houses offer an incredible, high quality service - comparable with and often better than hotels, in my opinion - and often at a far more reasonable price.

If you’re determined to stay centrally and in a hotel, I can only find two options that I would call comparatively cheap.

Long Street, Cape Town CBD

Bang in the centre of the CBD action, this trendy hotel is surprisingly cheap!

I was amazed, considering its high standard of quality and location. Alas, not particularly young family friendly, but your teens will really rate you if you decide to stay in this one...

Cheap Cape Town Waterfront Hotel

This hotel at the V & A Waterfront in Cape Town is a great value.

The family suite in particular is a real bargain given the location (yet, it's right in the Waterfront) and ‘per room’ rate.

It's a Protea hotel, part of a well respected local chain with high service standards.

If you are prepared to be a little less central (Cape Town is a pretty small city and you won’t regret getting off the regular visitor beat – honest!) you can get far more for your money. Check out the selections below and see if you agree with me.

Green Point/Sea Point Guest House

This guest house on the Sea Point / Green Point border is convenient for the CBD and Waterfront and gets great reviews.

I love its location perched high on the lower slopes of Signal Hill and looking out over the Atlantic and the new FIFA 2010 stadium.

4 Star Hout Bay Guest House

Within walking distance of local restaurants and the beach this guest house in Hout Bay is only 20 minutes from the CBD, along the spectacular coast road via Camps Bay.

Hout Bay is the larger of Cape Town's two original fishing 'villages' and is great value in a beautiful, less touristy location.

Noordhoek Guest House

Noordhoek is a beautiful conservation area en route to Cape Point, wedged between the mountains and a 5 mile long beach.

This lovely Noordhoek guesthouse is 45 minutes drive from Cape Town city centre and is great for couples or families.

If you are planning to see the Peninsula and not just the city sights, this is a great option, in close proximity to the fabulous Foodbarn restaurant.
