I love advising such a youngster, Terry!

And my ancestry is Scottish so we're practically related :-)

Work with me a little on this one - I need to ask a few questions and make some preliminary suggestions.

1. Why 5 days in East London? (It's a great spot, but most travellers wouldn't spend 5 days there... so just wondering about that.)

2. What (if anything) would you like to do besides golf?

Your time to get up to EL is great, you can really have a good explore and the same on the way back -- we can vary your route home to really expose you to the countryside, so to speak.

Golf budget: Garden Route golf courses cost about R550 for 18 holes. Ouch! But maybe less painful in GBP?
Also, Fancourt's public Links is closed for refurb till Sept 09, so to play there you have to stay at the hotel - pricey :-(
Other options: Pinnacle Point near George (also Stay and Play but much more reasonable), Oubaai (Ernie's course near George), Simola (Jack Nicklaus course near Knysna) and Pezula (Knysna again, awesome views, but you may lose a ball in the ocean!).

It would be a shame not to visit Addo Elephant Park as you will be driving past it :-)

So, a 'figure-8' route would be good: Cape Town to Oudtshoorn (inland), cross to the coast at George and go on to EL via PE and Port Alfred. On the way home stop at Addo then go slightly inland via Willowmore and De Rust, back to the coast again at George and home to CT via Swellendam and Hermanus.

Let me know what you think... and we can come up with a great plan :-)
