So, the Waterfront electronic signage now boasts 'free Wifi throughout Victoria Wharf'. I needed a book that was only available at Exclusives at the V and A, so decided to put them to the test... thus far, not that impressed :( But the views are as good as ever! And a friend informs me that a return visit to the Aquarium will reveal new wonders there :) In the meantime, click here to explore for yourself.

Southern rights are hopping and popping in Hermanus and False Bay, so get yourself out there to take a look a.s.a.p. Hermanus is a great spot if you want to take a day or two. Simonstown is just a 45 minute drive from the city centre, but is also a great place to stay. And as we know from that recent incident of the whale breaching onto a local yacht :) you can also whalewatch in Table Bay, leaving from the Waterfront!

I was just revelling in the rain (uh-huh, I am *glad* it is raining today!) when I caught myself thinking "Rain'll be good for the flowers..." Yikes - the flowers! The West coast is alive with them and Postberg has been open a week already. And will be open till the end of September, waiting to welcome you :) Get the info you need here (with a bit of a map and all and then plan your own spring flower hunt. You'll also be able to get your teeth into the details you need for trips to Clanwilliam and Springbok. Go get 'em! (or should that be "see 'em" ?!)

Car rentals - for ourselves we always use Europcar

I have used various car rental comparison tools over the years. My gripe with them is that either they give you too little information to really assess the options or they do not accommodate one-way journeys (i.e. pick up in one location, drop off in another. So in the end I have fallen back on the car hire company we have used all over SA for the last 4 years (for both business and pleasure) - Europcar. We use them because we have been satisfied with their rates and service...

If you'd rather use a comparison engine, here is the best one I can find for the SA market...

Scuba diving in Cape Town

We went diving with Pisces Divers near Simonstown. We rate them :) It's been a while so we decided to do a refresher course and get back up to speed. Now we are super-psyched to get back in the water regularly! Of course one has to get used to the thick neoprene suits (unless your training and budget runs to a dry suit) Cape Town water is never warm, hehe! Most exciting sighting - a shyshark curled up on the sandy bottom, hoping we wouldn't see him...

All seals alert! It's definitely wintry feeding season again which means shark activity at Seal Island (False Bay) and Shark Alley (Gans Baai) will be heading for its annual peak. There's bound to be a spike in demand around the World Cup, so if you are planning a trip do your research now! Bookings may be hard to come by, so leave time for an alternative date in case the weather does not cooperate.
