Finding Cape Town videos that really show what you want to see can be tricky. And you can waste a lot of time trawling the Web and not really seeing much of interest.
To save your valuable time, here’s my all-in-one-place selection of some of the top Capetown attractions on video – with a few comments to introduce each one!
Some aerial views, the Waterfront, and a Township Walk
This is a really good overview of some aspects of the Cape. Quality is a little fuzzy but it’s still worth watching.
This video offers some aerial views and wonderful clips of men singing from the V & A Waterfront, interspersed with great township footage.
Great White Shark Watching Video
This video is a little clichéd for my taste (dramatic Jaws-style music) and I could do without the cowboy-like whoops of the spectators but in all, it’s pretty much what one might expect from this pastime!
Shark Alley is near Gans Baai, about an hour and a half's drive from Cape Town.
Penguins at Boulders beach video
This is a funky, light-hearted look at the penguin colony at Boulder beach near Simonstown. I love the use of the captions to get started but pretty soon the penguins’ natural comedic talent kicks in and takes over!
Table Mountain video
This is a VERY short clip without any special effects or musical backing. If you have a better one I’d love to put it here instead!
It’s a little limited – it just shows the view out over Camps Bay and no other aspect (Table Bay is more noteworthy in my opinion) – but it gives you some sense of the vast spaces you can see from the top of the mountain.
