The Cango Caves are among the most popular caves in South Africa. Conveniently located close to the Garden Route, and with one of the finest and most impressive caves in South Africa, they attract a lot of tourists from all over the world.

I would definitely recommend hiring a car, as opposed to an escorted trip.

Your own wheels give you so much more flexibility.

Are you comfortable with driving reasonable distances? The roads are good and the traffic should not be too hectic, even though the school holidays run from 27 Mar - 11 Apr 2010. You will be driving up before the hols and coming back in the middle, so will miss the mania!

That said, you should book your accommodation ahead if possible. Here are our favourite Garden Route places.
