Cape Town Southern Suburbs MapsRondebosch, Newlands, Constantia and beyond...Cape Town Southern Suburbs maps cover the area I've lived in ever since I came to Cape Town. These leafy, spacious areas are cooler and greener than other parts of Cape Town because of the mountains close by. They are also rich in historical character as the city first expanded south aong the mountain chain before creeping out across the Cape Flats. When the original Cape settlers began to migrate out of the City Bowl, they headed south around Devil's Peak. The first farms outside the City Bowl were established here and Lady Anne Barnard kicked off suburbia with her home in what is now the Vineyard Hotel and Spa. You'll find amazing diverse architecture ranging from Cape Dutch mansions to slave cottages, lacy Victorians and dinkum Art Deco. The southern suburbs are also within easy reach of Muizenberg and the warm False Bay beaches.
Other claims to fame include being home to Kirstenbosch Gardens , Groote Schuur Hospital and estate, the University of Cape Town and the Newlands Cricket and Rugby grounds. And of course that's just the tip of the iceberg! If you choose to stay around here you'll find fine restaurants, excellent shopping, gracious vineyards and historic landmarks all within easy reach.
