Which Cape Town city maps do you need? This one below shows the City Bowl, which is where the original settlement of Cape Town nestled at the foot of Table Mountain. This was the destination of old-time travellers voyaging entering Table Bay in their ships. Here you will find
the Castle of Good Hope,
the Company's Gardens,
District Six Museum
and the Bo-kaap. It's also the home of the
Victoria and Alfred Waterfront.
Clicking anywhere on this map will show you Cape town accommodation options around the City Centre. For other maps, please see the links below.
This part of Cape Town is so rich in heritage sites I recommend it to any visitor to the Cape - this is the city's heart and will give you huge insights into the 21st century Cape Town that you will encounter elsewhere. Good and bad, it all started here! The City Bowl gives you a perfect base from which to explore the centre of Cape Town at your own pace. There is a wide range of places to stay, from very upmarket boutique hotels to more affordable family accommodation. A few days spent in the heart of Cape Town will give you a chance to go up Table Mountain , spend time at the Waterfront, visit the Cape Town markets and soak up the atmosphere of Cape Town's oldest buildings. I particularly recommend the Cape Town Carriage Company's ride through the city in a horse-drawn carriage - what an excellent way to see Cape Town as some of the old time settlers saw it!
