All over Cape Town Christmas Carols by candlelight concerts are a long-standing tradition.

Kirstenbosch is the best-known series of the Cape Town Christmas carols concerts, but there are other venues and spectacular Christmas musical events, too.

Kirstenbosch Carols 2011

The annual Kirstenbosch Cape Town Christmas Carols performances are accompanied Cape Town Brass Band and male voice choir.

The dates for this year - 2011 - are December 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th.

The gates open at 17h00 but the Carols only start at 20h00.

The entrance fee includes a candle and song-sheet.

Tickets will only be sold at Pick ‘n Pay stores in the Western Cape as the event is sponsored by Pick n Pay for Rotary.

Alas, no discount for Botanical Society members or students :).

Various Winelands Carols by Candlelight Options 2011

Oude Libertas, Stellenbosch

To spread the festive cheer, for the last three years the public garden carol-singing tradition has been extended to the Winelands and there are concerts held at the Oude Libertas just outside Stellenbosch.

The dates for Stellenbosch this year - 2011 - are December 21st and 22nd.

Vergelegen, Somerset West

The Vergelegen carol concert will be on December 16th 2011, in aid of the Helderberg Hospice

They will be held on the Vergelegen Great Lawn - stunning setting!

Tickets: R 30 for adults and R 15 for scholars - available at the gate – gates open at 17h00.

The service commences at 19h45.

Durbanville Hills Christmas Concert and Market 2011

Durbanville Hills is hosting a Carol concert on 9 December 2011. Great wines, Christmas classics and a gift market. The estate's wines will be on sale, plus soft drinks and hot chocoalte will be on sale (so don't bring your own!)

Gates open at 18h00.
