Cape Town Airport - how can I help you?

Cape Town airport is no longer a sleepy backwater -- traffic through our little regional hub is increasing like crazy and the powers-that-be are pedalling hard to stay ahead with facilities.

Thank goodness they have finally completed the new multi-storey parking garage so parking is no longer involves sharp eyes and a competitive streak! The Airport is pretty well equipped, although it can be confusing on your first visits - in my opinion the terminal signposting is a little chaotic.

The terminals are not totally integrated (although they are very close to each another) so tramping between them can be a dampening experience.

Flight Information

You can check flight times and details by:
  • phoning 086 72 77 888 for ACSA's automated flight-information service
  • phoning flight information on +27 (0)21 937 1200
  • using your cellphone to send to the number 35007 an SMS containing the flight number, in reply to which you will receive up-to-date flight details

  • Cash and Banking

There are ATM's in all the terminals except International Arrivals. As for bureaux-de-change, they can be found in every terminal except Domestic Arrivals!

    Transport

    Taxis

The official advice is that you should use only the authorised airport taxi company, Touch Down Taxis. However, this is not your most cost-effective option! I recommend a great alternative - use one of our local, value-for-money car hire companies and get them to collect you from the airport! Click here for details.

    Car Hire

    These companies have counters in both the International and Domestic Arrivals terminals.* Avis: +27 (21) 934 0330 * Budget: +27 (21) 934 3180 * Europcar: +27 (21) 934 4750 * Hertz: +27 (21) 934 3913 * Imperial: +27 (21) 934 8600 * National Alamo: +27 (21) 934 7499 * Tempest: +27 (21) 934 8650 * Dollar Thrifty: +27 (21) 934 0266

    Shuttle Services

Shuttle buses run from both Arrivals terminals. A trip in a shuttle bus costs about R120 a person; any extra passenger from the same group pays only R30 more.

    International terminal

  • Anwar's Tourist Services - +27 (0)21 936 2064
  • Domestic terminal

  • Way-2-Go Tours - +27 (0)21 934 4651

  • Centurion Tours - +27 (0)21 934 8281

  • VAT Refunds

If you're a foreign visitor you can claim back Value Added Tax when you leave Cape Town airport. The VAT refund office is on the ground level of International Departures. You'll need to show your goods to the administrator before check-in. Then you go through passport control. After that you get the VAT back, less the administrator's commission.
