Whale watching advice
by: Alison

Hi Bhanoo!

You don't mention a couple of things....
Firstly, will you have your own transport around the Cape? Secondly, what are the ages of your children?

If you have a hire car or something similar, the cost-effective way to do the whale watching trip is to arrange it direct and drive through yourself.

In Hermanus many people find they don't need a boat trip, as the whales come in so close to land you get great sightings without the cost and possibility of seasickness!

You will see plenty of whales from the cliff tops and also from De Kelders which is between Hermanus and Gans Baai.

If you are determined on a boat trip, I have heard good things about Dyer Island Cruises which operates out of Gans Baai (about 30 mins beyond Hermanus) There are also Hermanus-based boats, but I have no definite information about them.

I am not sure whether you want to do the deep sea fishing as a family activity? It depends on the ages of your party, obviously. I recommend you contact Cape Sea Safaris
