Addo Climate and Seasons Here's some background information to help you plan your stay. From a visitor's point of view, I’d say Addo has only two effective seasons – summer from October to March and winter from April to September. Spring and autumn aren’t as marked as they are closer to Cape Town which is further south and west. The average day temperatures never fall below 21 deg C, and it can be much hotter than that even in the winter months. Night temperatures are chilly in winter, and frost is a common occurrence in June and July, (even August!) as we discovered. We camped there in July and had to bundle up very warmly! Addo is in a year-round rainfall area but in general the months from April to September are drier, with October to March being wetter. The best time to visit Addo Elephant National Park According to a friend’s father who has been visiting Addo twice a year since Adam was a lad, May is THE month to go there. He says the weather in May is great and the animal sightings are also at their best.
